I want to make everyone aware and extend a sincere public thank you to Engineer Mr. Jeffrey Bishop, P.E., who has graciously agreed to provide a comprehensive structural analysis of the Harbour Playhouse. This assessment is a critical first step in determining whether the building is viable for restoration, and it will ultimately guide every decision that follows in this process.
Mr. Bishop’s willingness to lend his expertise at such a pivotal moment speaks volumes. Structural evaluations of this magnitude are not only highly technical, but essential to ensuring the safety, feasibility, and long-term success of any restoration effort. By stepping forward to assist, he is helping bring clarity to a project that means so much to our community.
More importantly, this contribution represents something greater than engineering—it reflects a commitment to preserving the cultural and historical fabric of Dickinson. The Harbour Playhouse is not just a building; it is a symbol of decades of artistic expression, community connection, and the enduring legacy of Mrs. Bennie Nipper, as well as the inspiration of Ziyanna Jones.
We believe this act of generosity is truly indicative of the type of support and partnership that defines this community. It shows that when called upon, people here step forward not just with words, but with meaningful action.
We are incredibly grateful for Mr. Bishop’s support, his professionalism, and his belief in the importance of this effort. His involvement brings us one step closer to determining a path forward and, hopefully, to restoring a space that can once again serve and inspire generations to come.
I also wanted to show some love to Loflin Environmental Services, Inc., and the I also want to extend my deepest gratitude to Loflin Environmental Services, Inc., and its owner, Mr. Jim Murray, for their extraordinary generosity in offering to carry out the asbestos inspection and testing. This is not just a professional service—it is a meaningful act of community stewardship and a true investment in the future of Dickinson.
What Mr. Murray and his team are doing goes far beyond the scope of their work. They are stepping in at a critical moment to help preserve a space that has meant so much to so many families over the years. Their support demonstrates a genuine belief in the importance of the arts, in the value of restoring what once brought joy to this community, and in ensuring that future generations will have the same opportunities.
By lending their expertise, they are also helping us honor the enduring legacy of Mrs. Bennie Nipper, whose vision and dedication built a home for the arts in Dickinson, as well as the legacy of Ziyanna Jones, whose passion continues to inspire the mission of this project. Acts like this remind us that restoration is not just about rebuilding a structure—it is about rebuilding hope, preserving history, and creating something lasting for the community.
We believe this kind of generosity is truly indicative of the spirit of support and partnership that exists within this community. It is a powerful reminder that when Dickinson comes together, we are capable of accomplishing something meaningful and lasting.
We are truly grateful for their partnership, their generosity, and their belief in what this project represents.
